Sunrise, September 2

I can't believe it's September already!  The sunrise is getting later; this week it was 6:25 a.m. compared with 5:47 a.m. a month ago.  It was 48 degrees with a stiff breeze off the lake.  I continued south a bit to Iona's Beach, a rock beach with unique pinkish rocks that tinkle when the waves wash over them.  Heavy clouds surrounded the lake, so the sun was barely visible.

I could sit and listen to these waves for hours

Looking down onto Iona's Beach

I'm still amazed that anything can grow in the cracks of these rocks

See how the clouds clear away from the lake?

A lone rock

Because of erosion at its roots, this tree now grow sideways

The palest of purple, these flowers are just past their prime

More wave watching

The wave approaches the rock . . .

and splashes over it

A splash in time

Secluded beach

I've seen some rock stacking (called cairns by some) here and there, so decided to give it a try

A metal pole left from an early time

Despite the no camping sign, a tent was set up

A hawk perched on top of this dead tree

I'm definitely going to go back to Iona's Beach when sunrise conditions are better.
