Sunrise, January 6 (continued)

Sunrise was still at 7:52 a.m. this week, although I paid more attention to the water than the sun.

Big splash on the rock in the background

You can see where the waves have disturbed the sand that meets the snow

A hint of sun above the clouds

Watch the wave break over this rock:

See the particles of sand in the water

And the bubbles as it washes over the rock

More sun

The color spreads to surrounding clouds

Lots of tracks in the snow on the beach

I've been trying to learn more about using the settings on my camera instead of just leaving the camera on auto.  One thing to learn about is f-stop, or aperture, which has to do with how much light hits the sensor.  The three following photographs were taken with different f-stops.

f/16 (lets in less light, background more in focus)

f/10 (lets in medium amount of light, background less in focus)

f/5.6 (lets in more light, background not in focus)

Lake in focus

 Tree in focus

Used macro (close-up) setting to take this picture

Another tire on the beach

Foamy water, the remains of a wave
